Black tiles represent impassible terrain: steep mountains and wild seas. Altitude is indicated with different shades of green; the darker the color, the lower the altitude. Blue color indicates waterlogged land.

Each tile has 8 adjacent tiles. This means that diagonal movement is equally fast as straight movement, even though x tiles diagonal is a longer distance on the map than x tiles straight. This means that the map is distorting the shape of the continent. The actual shape is less square and more circular.
