JOTNJORDH

THE CONTINENT

Jotnjordh is a green and rocky continent. Pine-dominated forests cover a big part of the land, but not on the steepest and highest places of the freezing mountains. These are said to be inhabited by fearsome ettins, and indeed, nobody that ventures there ever returns. Many rivers flow from these giant-palaces to the wild sea that bites the rocky shores. The common saudhs, beasts with curled horns and long furs live on green plains and brown heaths, though occasionally they flee into treacherous mires when chased by wyverns. The mires and swamps have such a bad reputation that not even these flying predators dare set foot there.

The first age was one of darkness, of ignorance. Trivial squabbles prevented formation of nations. But eventually minor differences were put aside for the greater good. And so the second age commenced.

MAGIC
This game is set in the middle ages. For the most part it's realistic, even though other species of humans exist side by side. There is some magic, which is like a combination of alchemy and modern-day life science. Wizards might develop a potion to combat a curse, similar to scientists developing the cure for a disease. Magic is not common, and you should not use magic to resolve an issue (unless I specifically state that you can).

CREATURES - HUMANOIDS

Nords:
Robustly built with blonde hair and blue eyes. The males grow a blonde beard. Their skin is pale, but tans after exposure to the sun. Consume fruit, eggs, meat, seeds, milk.

Vampires:
Robustly built with white hair and red eyes. Their pale skin is very sensitive to light, as are their eyes, with which they can see very well in the dark. They consume blood, meat, marrow.

Elves:
Their slim, fragile built body is decorated with numerous freckles. They have curly, copper hair that contrasts with their leaf-green eyes. Elves usually consume fruit, leaves, and seeds.

Dwarves:
These underground creatures are short and have tiny black eyes that can only see things that are very near. Their wrinkled skin is bald, and its color varies from dirty white to bluish grey. Dwarves consume insects, worms, fungi, roots, milk.

Fiends:
These muscular humanoids possess a dark grey to dark red skin, which is composed of scales and spikes. They carry no hair on their heads (or anywhere else), but do carry multiple horns. They have bright yellow eyes, and they consume smoked and charred animals.

Trolls:
These green-eyed beings are extremely furry. Their brown to grey hair grows everywhere, though it's much longer on the head. A troll carries a large nose, which they regard as the most attractive, aesthetically pleasing feature of their bodies. Unlike other humanoids, a troll also has a hairy tail. These beings usually consume eggs, milk, seeds, berries and small animals, and prefer their food to be slightly rotten.

CREATURES - DRAGONS

Dragons are predatory animals with strong scales as skin. There are two kinds of dragons: the subterranean electric worms, and the flying wyverns.

Electric Worm:
Pale, snake-like body with a soft-scaled skin that excretes mucus. Shooting tongue that produces electric shocks. Uses this to paralyse fast prey. Has small teeth that are mainly used to keep hold of the prey. The prey is swallowed whole. Eats all kinds of small to medium sized animals (humanoids being medium-sized).

Wyvern (or Fire Worm):
Lizard body with two legs and two leathery wings. Breathes fire as a defence mechanism, or to catch a flock of the same prey at the same time. He cannot use this ability often though. He mostly relies on speed and sharp teeth. Eats small to medium sized animals, and also vegetation. Wyverns cannot live on vegetables alone.

CREATURES - OTHER

Fairies:
Fairies (or fey) are colorful eusocial mantids with a humanoid appearance. They build waxy miniature cities, and are able to make a sweet golden substance (honey). This substance can be eaten as it is, or can be used to brew the divine beverage of mead. Many people think that fairies are extremely clever, and that they circle around a person just before he is going to die. I do not know about the death-predicting behaviour, but can tell you that individual fairies are very dumb like other insects. Only swarms display intelligent behaviour.

Saudhs:
Big, dumb, hairy. Male saudhs carry curled horns, used to attract female saudhs. Humans use these ovine creatures for their fur, milk, and meat, and as beasts of burden. Saudhs are preferred over other animals not only because they are useful in so many ways, but also because they are so docile.
